MATCH REPORT: NYACC LEAGUE PLAYOFF FINAL - Richmondshire v Skelton Castle

By Joe White

The NYACC final -the biggest final of the year for the Richmond squad- did not have a promising start, with Joe White losing the toss and being put in to bat. We also had an upset for the team; Jack Platt had been ill and unable to make the game in the morning. A huge thank you goes to Archie MacLelland for stepping in at the last minute, showing great commitment for the cause.

With a solid opening pair in, Max and Isaac, they began by setting a massive total for Skelton Castle to chase. The two of them put on a monstrous 38 from the first four overs, scoring 13 and 17 apiece.
Following on, we had James and Raam, who put on 22 runs between them. With Raam scoring a well-played 11, from 10 balls.

The third pair came in, Joe and Archie, with Archie playing very well after waking up roughly 30 minutes earlier! Joe scored 28 and Archie scored 5, a great effort for just waking up.
The final pair, Ollie and Tom, scoring 16 and 4 respectively. Setting a solid score of 306 for Skelton to try and beat.

Bowling started well, with the first pair only scoring 16. The second pair had a tough time and lost 6 runs (net) in their four overs, with Tom and Raam both taking wickets. It was a similar story for the third pair, with a wicket maiden for Archie to start this pair off. Followed on by James, who took a wicket – caught and bowled! The last pair couldn’t do much with three wickets falling and a net of 4 runs in these overs.

A lot of accurate bowling was on show. Max 3 overs, 6 runs and 1 wicket. Ollie 2 overs, 8 runs, 1 wicket.

A phenomenal game for Tom Bromirskyj today: 2 wickets for only 4 runs, as well as an excellent catch and a top batting display, keeping out some aggressive batting in the final overs of our innings – making him the Wensleydale Heifer player of the match!

Overall, a magnificent effort from the whole team, working really well together to secure an 80 run win and the NYACC League title.
