Under-11s vs Rockliffe Park Match Report

Rockliffe Park U11s 261 for 6 (231 net) v Richmondshire U11s 315 for 0 (315 net)
Richmondshire win by 84 runs

Richmondshire opened their NYACC season with a convincing victory against league newbies Rockliffe.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat, all pairs were challenged to make a minimum of 20 runs during their 4 overs at the crease. First up were Max and Raam, who returned with 26 runs on the scoreboard (18 of which came from the bat). An excellent start. Issac and James arrived next, brandishing their wooden sabres. After being instructed to ‘play themselves in’ Issac responded by thundering the first ball towards the boundary... and so it continued! The scoreboard read 260 by the end of the 8th over.

Eddy and Tom made up the third pair and continued the excellent scoring rate putting on another 25 runs and continuing to lower the morale of the opposition. With 285 without loss on the scoreboard, our final pair of Joe and Jack came to the crease. With the usual flamboyant shot selection, the score hurried on to 315 with neither player ever looking in danger of losing their wicket. What an excellent all-round batting performance!

Buoyed by the quick scoring in the first half of the game, the team took the field, knowing that a tight bowling performance would see victory. Some excellent bowling ensued. Not a single wide was conceded in 16 overs, the only blemishes came from half a dozen over-exuberant no balls.

Every player played their part in a tight bowling unit, Isaac (2-0-8-1), Eddy (3-0-21-1), Joe (3-0-6-3) being the wicket takers, along with Max taking a good run out.

The Wensleydale Heifer Player of the Match is awarded to Joe White for scoring 15 runs and taking 3 wickets.
