Richmondshire U13s match report vs Sedgefield

On a sunny evening, Richmondshire Under-13s got their season underway with what was expected to be a tough game away to Sedgefield.

Captain Jake Percival won the toss and elected to bat, a decision which would prove to be well made. After feeling their way in, openers Finlay Clarke and Alex Nimmo got the team off to a great start, with a partnership of 53. Alex retired on 30 not out after smashing five 4s and a fantastic 6. Fin, the junior partner in age only, was out the next ball after Alex retired, but not before scoring 17 runs, including three 4s.

Joe Sydall and Jake Percival then had another great partnership, with Joe scoring 19, including four 4s, before being run out. Jake retired on 30 after hitting four 4s and, not to be outdone by Alex, a cracking six.

Richmondshire finished on 124-2.

That was always going to be a hard target to chase, and Richmondshire got off to a great start when Jake got an early wicket. Further wickets followed from Fin and William, and despite 22 extras, compared with only 6 from Sedgefield, it was more than enough to secure a well-deserved victory. Everyone also got a bowl, including Under-13 debutants James, Thomas and Harvey.

Sedgefield finished on 101-3.
