Under 9 Match v Masham

Rain failed to stop play, despite its best efforts, but it did rather make a mess of the scoresheets, which limits what I have to write about.

Masham 99 for 2 (289 net) beat Richmondshire 75 for 3 (260 net) by 29 runs.

Richmondshire batted first. Before the rain started, Joseph and Andrew had a good opening partnership. Elsa hit a couple of sweetly timed fours, one of them described in a text I received from the Masham coach whilst typing this as the shot of the night, "timed to perfection", her brother Henry also hit a four. The Masham bowling was pretty good, easily the best I have seen at this level.

The match was fairly level until the third Masham pairing, who scored 40 runs, the last pair managed to then maintain the advantage. Evan was responsible for both the wickets we took, one  a direct hit run out and the other bowled.

Well done to everyone for beating the rain.
