U13 Unbeaten Run Intact .... But Only Just

Richmond U13 travelled to Sedgefield for their last game in the Lowery Cup group stage.  Richmond batted first after losing the toss, in a game which turned out to have a dramatic finish.

During their innings Richmond again lost more wickets than they would like, a feature of their season to date.  By the conclusion of their innings they had reached 282 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, meaning a net score of 234.  No Richmond batsman reached double figures in a below par performance with wides easily the top scorer.

When Sedgefield batted they were very watchful knowing if they did not lose wickets they should win the game.  By the 12th over they were ahead of Richmond's net score and clear favourites.  However they became increasingly defensive with their stronger batsmen turning down runs in favour of keeping the strike.  When the last batsmen came in they were in control with their captain taking most of the strike.  In a rare ball bowled at the second batsman in the pair Jordan Forbes bowled him to make Sedgefield a little more nervous.  At the start of the last over Sedgefield were four ahead and when the third ball was hit to the boundary, the lead was 8.  Two dot balls followed from James Kelly's bowling meaning a wicket was required from the last ball for a tie.  James ran in and bowled the Sedgefield captain meaning somehow Richmond had rescued a tie.

It was not our best performance of the year but credit to the players for keeping going to the last ball.
