Indoor league Match Reports Week 1
In the junior division match, which saw a lot of high quality bowling, Team B ran out winners, scoring 77 all out in response to the Team A innings of 54 for 5. Top scorer for Team A was Henry Shepherd with 18 not out, whilst the best bowling figures belonged to Toby Broderick with 2 for 8 and Edmund Richardson with 2 for 6. In the Team B innings, the Baines brothers were top scorers with 22 for Dan and 25 not out for Jonny, whilst Alex Speakman and Henry Bushell both took two wickets.
The senior division match between Team A and Team B was a higher scoring affair with some very good fielding, Eddie Lewington getting two direct hit runouts. Team B failed to bat out the full overs, scoring 97 off 10.1, Harvey Websdale scoring 36, Eddie Lewington 25 and Tom Spensley 20. Top bowler for Team A was Jonny Carlton with 2 for 14. Team A reached their target off the first ball of the last over and went on to score 110. Top scorer was Tom Ward with 38; Sam Potter, George Spink and Tom Spensley were all very economical with the ball.
I'll also mention the after-match meal which the Whiles enjoyed at Antonio's in the clubhouse. It really was very good and I would recommend it to others, whether you just want a pizza or a full meal.
