Winter hits Stockton in early July as U13s win Lowery Cup

Despite Stockton having home advantage, they were beaten by 27 runs as they were outbowled and outfielded by a keen Richmondshire team well marshalled by captain Sam Winter.

Richmondshire lost the toss and were asked to bat. None of our batters really let rip as they have done in some earlier matches, but we still made a decent total of 114 for 8, thanks to 30 not out from Matty and 21 from Toby. In a non-compliance with the competition rules, wides did not retire on passing 30 and the Stockton keeper helpfully let through 11 byes.

When they came to bat, Stockton were immediately under pressure and behind the scoring rate. Jonny Carr bowled fast and straight to take 3 for 12, maintaining his strike rate this season of a wicket every 8 balls bowled. Toby Lush bowled fast taking 3 for 20, Jonny Carlton and Sam Winter bowled straight taking 2 for 14 and 1 for 7 as Stockton were all out for 87, the innings ending with a run out.

Well done boys, the best junior teams I have seen recently have been from Stockton and you beat them easily.
