Match Report NYACC U13 v Newton Aycliffe
A win by 45 runs, but far from our best performance, as we maintained the season's unbeaten run.
After heavy overnight rain, we had to bat first on a sticky wicket which made bowling of the pie throwing variety tricky to play. For the first time this season, Sam was dismissed, out bowled, meaning he does now have a batting average (170), Ted was also bowled and James Metcalfe had a bit of a 'mare, so at the halfway mark, our score was barely positive. Double figure not out innings from Matty, Jacob, Toby and Thomas gave the score respectability at 113 for 5, 273 net, but this was poor compared to what we got against a much better bowling attack on Friday night.
Fortunately, 3 wickets falling in the first pair to Sam and Toby put Aycliffe on the back foot. Thomas and H each picked up wickets, with 2 more to James Metcalfe, plus an excellent run out from Thomas meant we took 8 wickets as Aycliffe finished on 92 for 8, 228 net.
Next we will be playing Norton at Gilling, we will have to be much sharper at our pairs cricket to win that match as they looked pretty handy on Friday night.
