Richmondshire U11 V Newton Aycliffe U11 - Match Report

Richmond U11s played their third game in the Gemara Cup at home to Newton Aycliffe.  the away team won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Richmond played confidently throughout their innings and are really learning to hit the bad balls hard and this is paying dividends with lots of boundaries achieved on the fast outfield at Richmond.  Lots of batsmen scored well with James Kelly top scoring with 26 runs and Jordan Forbes and Tom Dowson both hitting 19 runs, and Ryan Goldsmith also achieving double figures with 11.  Richmond ended up with a total score of 314 runs for the loss of 3 wickets giving a formidable net score of 290 runs.

Whilst it was the experienced players who scored the runs it was the younger players new to the team who shone with the ball.  Sam Potter led the way with 3 wickets for 2 runs in his 3 overs and Daniel Baines on his debut took 3 wickets for 3 runs including a wicket with his first ball in competitive cricket.  And with Ryan Goldsmith and James Norman both chipping in with 2 wickets each and Griffin Bewell bowling well on his debut Newton Aycliffe always struggled to remain in positive score.  At the end they had managed a net score of 157 runs giving Richmond an emphatic win by 133 runs.

This was another very encouraging display by Richmond in batting, bowling and fielding with everyone in the team very impressive.

No game next week.
