NYACC U13 Match V Darlington RA - Match report

Another win, ultimately with a few overs to spare, courtesy of some good batting by Sam, George, Toby and James Metcalfe.

RA won the toss and elected to bat. They got a fast start due to numerous extras from wayward, over-enthusiastic bowling. Luckily, Ryan, Jonny Carr and Spence put the brakes on in the middle of the innings, RA reaching a respectable 108 for 5, a score which would have been rather lower had extras been required to retire on passing 30.

When it was our turn to bat, the Cric HQ scoring app informs us that although we were initially behind the asking rate, we were never behind on Duckworth-Lewis. Toby Lush's arrival at the wicket accelerated the scoring rate with some strong leg side shots, with RA perhaps only having 4 good bowlers rather than the required 6, the game fell away from them and we won with about 4 overs to spare, both Sam and Toby passing 30 runs. We actually scored 29 more runs off the bat than RA did !!

We will be missing Sam next Sunday and need to look at reducing the number of runs we need to score to win. Bowlers need to concentrate on bowling steadily, landing the ball in the right place, most of our players also need to improve the speed of their fielding, whether their role is to stop singles or prevent the ball crossing the rope.
