Girls Win Again

Our Girls played against the North Yorkshire friendly League Champions tonight in a thrilling encounter where the coaches were biting nails. Richmondshire won by ten runs. Scoring was done on the internet (thanks Andy).
Richmond fielded first in this pairs game and with some magnificent bowling restricted the opposition to 223 taking 4 wickets. Liberty Noke hit the wickets but failed to dislodge the bails with one ball, hit middle stump with the next just to make certain.Lucy bowled legspin in anger for the first time for us and was excellent given this is the hardest discipline in cricket.
Fielding was excellent all through with some great teamwork, good communication from all and good backing up. The ice pack was required once after some fast bowling by Rosie, I'm sure Amy will use her hands next time. Well done to all in the field.
The batting side of the game in pairs is a different animal for our girls. Our opening pair did extremely well not to lose wickets against little Emily (her first ever game) who bowled extremely well for North Stainley. Liberty and India both lost wickets although perhaps the ball rolled for Liberty's (easy to say when we've won, but it did).
With two pairs to go the game was on a knife edge. That was the opinion of the opposition but our girls new different. With rousing support from the sidelines from the rest of the team (it was too early for the mums) the last two pairs saw us home in the gathering gloom.
FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE GIRLS,

On a slightly different note well done to those girls who had trials for Yorkshire, a fantastic effort, perhaps Yorkshire don't know what they are losing out on. Speaking with our opposition they feel the same if it is any consolation.
