Richmond U11 v Billingham U11 Match Report

Richmond U11s beat the weather to entertain Billingham at Gilling in a league game.

Due to a couple of late arrivals for the visitors and to ensure the game got started Billingham chose to bat first giving their latecomers time to arrive.  Thomas Kavanagh took an early wicket for Richmond and backed up by some keen fielding restricted the Billingham batters.  The second pair of bowlers, Kyle Galloway and Jack Smith turned the screw even more with only six runs conceded in four overs and a wicket for Jack.  After that Billingham didn't lose any further wickets but the scoreboard operator wasn't particularly overworked either and Billingham ended with a net score of 213 runs.

When Richmond batted Harvey Websdale attacked from the word go and hit three fours and a huge six to get the team off to a great start with Nathan Simpson.  Although Harvey was also bowled the opening pair added a net 24 runs.  Tom Kavanagh and Eddie Lewington carried on the good work with some excellent running between the wickets.  Kyle and Jack also batted sensibly and when the last pair, Tom Spensley and James Norman, went in they were well ahead on net runs.  Despite both batsmen being out Richmond ended up on a net score of 243 runs, winning by 30 runs.

Another great win for the U11s - their ninth win in a row - a great achievement by all the boys that have played in those games.
