Junior training during August

The holiday season has really kicked in and several coaches are away over the next couple of weeks.

We have engaged the services of Umar Rashid, a Level III coach who used to play and coach at the club, and who recently coached the Pakistan womens' cricket team.

Umar is a welcome addition to the coaching team, and he will be with us until the end of the season leading the coaching sessions.

We hope to make the arrangement more permanent in the closed season, and the club is looking to set up a Richmondshire Cricket Academy with Umar at the helm sometime before Christmas.

It has been a long-term ambition for the club to run an "Academy of Excellence", and we hope to realise that ambition this year, with scheduled courses being delivered throughout the year: indoors during winter, and outdoors at the club during the summer months.

Please join me in welcoming Umar back to the club, and please give him your support as we start to put more structure and resources into the provision of coaching here at Richmondshire.

Andy Barlow,
Junior Section Chairman
