Sedgefield U11 v Richmond U11 - Match Report

Richmond U11s continued their Gemara Cup campaign with an away game at Sedgefield.  The home team won the toss and decided to bat first.

Richmond's opening bowlers, Jordan Forbes and James Kelly were quickly into their stride and both restricted runs and took wickets.  This theme continued throughout the Sedgefield innings with the home side eventually losing 9 wickets.  Of particular note in the Richmond display were Jordan Forbes who had fantastic figures of 4 wickets for 3 runs, Ryan Goldsmith for a great display of spin bowling, Sam Potter for his first wicket in competitive cricket and Tom Dowson for an excellent direct hit to get a run out.  At the end of the innings Sedgefield had progressed to 248 runs but with the 9 wickets lost their net score was 176.

Richmond batted well when it was their turn to bat with everyone contributing runs.  Lots of boundaries were hit and with some of the bowling being a bit wayward the scoreboard ticked along nicely.  With James Kelly and Tom Dowson reaching double figures and only one wicket being lost Richmond ended on 282 runs for 1 wicket giving a net score of 274 and victory by an excellent 98 runs.

Everyone played their part in another good team performance and win and we need to keep the good consistent cricket going.
