U13 D&DL Match v Middleton, Match Report

Team Manager Gaynor Dawson provided the following report:

This was the first match of the season in the Darlington and District League; we played 16 overs a side and soundly beat Middleton in Teesdale, scoring 297 to their 206.

Richmond batted first, with captain Chris Gill paired with Dominic Clarke. They scored 16 from the bat with extras contributing another 4. Second pair Finnis Barlow and Jordan Moss batted strongly, scoring 30 from the bat, with extras on top. Jordan hit three boundaries, Finnis one. Third pair were Alex Rowe and Tim Dawson, who found themselves up against more accurate bowlers, adding 5 runs to the toal, with Alex being stumped. Last pair Adam Langhorne and James Probert scored freely, Adam hitting 33 runs and James 10, though James was unfortunately stumped once. Middleton were a young side, many of their players playing their first competititve match. They fielded well, but their bowling was sometimes frustratingly short and wide for our batters.

The Richmond performance remained strong when Middleton batted. Jordan, Adam, Dom, Alex and Tim all took a wicket, Chris and Dom each bowling maiden overs. Finnis was an excellent wicketkeeper and the fielding was good. The boys enjoyed themselves and played well as a team; well done.
