Under 9’s Richmond vs Northallerton match report

Richmond U9’s vs Northallerton Match Report

Richmond hosted Northallerton at Richmond School, with a strong side wind to contend with meant bowling would be tricky for both teams. Sophie White was captaining the side for the first time and lost the toss, Northallerton elected to bat. With four out of the eight bowlers from Richmond with less that 8 runs showed how well they performed. Northallerton scored 276, net 266 which seamed a target well within reach for Richmond.

Richmond’s first pair Ted and Jake got off to a great start adding 39 runs, Sophie and Pippa making her debut added another 17 meaning at the half way stage we were 56-1.
In stepped the third pairing of Olly also making his debut and  Beth who hit a quick fire 40 runs. Olly scoring 34 which is certainly the highest innings I have seen in a four over spell. So with 90-2 with four overs to go it was looking like a walk in the park to claim the points.
In came Archie and Oliver again making their debut in the league games, in the first over there was some in decisive calls and we had two run outs, after some sound defensive work they took advantage of some poor fielding and got us over the line finishing with 311 net 291.

Well done to everyone and another good result.
