Under-11s take the title

Richmondshire (336 for 3 - 321 net) VS BLACKHALL U11S (224 for 8 - 184 net)

Richmondshire win by 137 runs and take the NYACC U11 North Title

Knowing that 3 points were required to take the NYACC North title, the U11s were leaving nothing to chance and came away from Blackhall with their largest victory of the season.

It took only 3 balls of the Blackhall innings before a wicket was taken, Jack Platt grasping at a simple catch from an aggressive ball from Max Percival. And that set the tone. The first pair managed a strangled 7 runs in their 4 overs, whilst losing 3 wickets to a dynamic and excitable attack, made up of Percival (2), Player and White.

The second pair faired worse. Bromirskyj and Raj, who simply bowled on middle stump for 24 balls, gave the batters nothing and they returned with exactly that - no runs off the bat whatsoever!

With the score on 211 for 4 (191 net) at the halfway point, the team didn't let up. More maidens and wickets but very few runs ensured that the total was never better than the 200 the opposition started with before the first ball was bowled! Everyone bowled very tightly and wickets were shared across all players. However, one player to mention was James Cox who, with the exception of the second ball of the match, conceded no byes at all and delivered a faultless performance behind the stumps.

So with a modest total to beat and a Hambleton Taverners game to get to, the team set to work. Percival and Platt opened and returned 10 minutes later with 40 runs, Jack scoring a noteable 19 of them! White and Player batted second. Although a rash skip down the wicket to the first ball, meant that White was caught on the boundary, things seemed settle down after this and they returned to the pavilion with another 40 runs, making the score 280 for 2 at the halfway point.

Bottomley and Cox continued the rout, adding a further 21 before Raj and Bromirskyj rounded things off with another 35 runs - 22 to Raj, his top score of the season - to make it a thoroughly miserable Sunday morning for Blackhall but a great way to finish the NYACC league season for Richmondshire.

Well done U11s - an excellent NYACC season!

The Wensleydale Heifer Player of the Match goes to James Cox for an excellent display of wicketkeeping and good contribution with the bat.
