Under-11s (NYACC) match report vs Stockton

By Jen Percival
On a lovely sunny morning we turned up for our earliest start of the season.
Winning the toss, Captain Isaac elected to field. Max opened the bowling with a wicket and a run out by Joel in his first over. The Stockton batsmen struggled to hit runs, none of them getting into double figures and with wickets falling regularly Stockton ended up 250-8, net 210. Best bowling figures: Max 3-1-5-3 and Will P 3-0-8-2 and a run out assisted by Eddy.
Richmond’s retaliation began with Max and Eddy scoring 26 runs and losing 3 wickets between them. Raam and Tom added 17 runs to the total, losing one more wicket. A new pairing of Joel and Archie came to the crease. Some tight bowling from the opposition saw 6 wickets fall and they only conceded 3 runs. As the final pair of Isaac and Will P went into bat, Richmond had a net of 198 so this final pair needed to score 13 runs to win. Another wicket fell in their first over and with hardly scoring any runs we went into the last over needing 8 runs. Isaac hitting a four helped us on our way and at the end of the match the opposition’s scorer said it was a draw!
With all the players and crowd asking for a final result, I was under immense pressure to get the scorebook to balance. After double-checking the result, Richmond ended up 267-11, net 212.
Richmond won by 2 runs-our closest result this season.
The Wensleydale Heifer man of the match goes to Max Percival for his fantastic bowling and batting performance.
