Thornton Watlass v’s Richmond U9’s Match Report

Richmond Under 9’s made the trip to Thornton Watlass with Richnond needing to win to keep their hopes alive on claiming 1st position in the league.
Thornton Watlass won the toss and elected to bat, with three fours hit in the first over it looked like it was going to be high scoring match. With some tight bowling Kyle who was on a hat trick in his second over and a good performance from all the players we managed to claim 5 wickets and kept Thornton Watlass to a modest score of 262.
With a strong squad Richmond were quietly confident in chasing down the total set but as we knew from the home match, Thornton Watlass had a few very competent bowlers, This was displayed in the first over claiming two wickets. However Richmond battled through adding runs here and there and with the last four overs with Bobby and Elliot in the middle trailing by 25, Elliot hit a couple of sixes and was clearly pumped up for the big finale and some good running between them we had got to 269 with the final over to bowl. Bobby knew all he had to do was play the over out which he successfully did. Well done to all the team.
