Under-11s match report vs Darlington RA (cup)

By Jen Percival

On Friday 5th July, we played our last Gemara cup game and for the first time this season we were asked to play 10 a-side.

With Captain White at a family function, Isaac stepped up to lead the team. He won the toss and elected to bat first.

Jack and James opened the batting with a solid performance of 15 and 16 runs respectively, both losing one wicket each. Raam and Tom followed with a respectable 10 and 7, so after 8 overs Richmond were 258-3. The middle pair of Max and Will P added another 27 runs off the bat. Eddy and Gabe were the penultimate pair, Eddy scoring 16 losing one wicket and Gabe scoring 9. Isaac (25) and Will R (6) finished Richmond’s batting line-up. Richmond finishing on 372-6, net 342-our highest score of the season.

After a quick break, Darlington RA went out to bat and they never really got going. Runs were slow due to our fabulous bowling and tight fielding-only 25 runs being scored off the first twelve overs, helped by two maiden overs from Raam and two amazing run outs by Eddy and Will R. The next seven overs were maidens by James, Jack, Max, Gabe and a wicket maiden by Will R.
Darlington RA finished on 229-6, net 199.

Richmond won by a massive 143 runs.

The Wensleydale Heifer man of the match for his performance with bat and ball is Jack Platt.
