Richmondshire Rhinos Under-11s vs Yarm

MATCH REPORT: RHINOS (310 for 5 - 285 net) VS YARM U11S (274 for 5 - 249 net)

Rhinos win by 36 runs

This was the Rhinos final group game of the season in the Hambleton league and the win secured their position as undefeated league winners and ensured their place in the finals day, scheduled for Sunday September 1st, here at Richmondshire.

Captain Jack Platt win the toss and we batted first, eager to set a big target and put pressure on the opposition. The Rhinos began well, with James Cox and Eddy Player opening up and returning with 20 runs in the bank. Captain Platt was next to take control, eagerly supported by the rapidly improving Jack Ford. The scoreboard read 248 for 1 at the halfway point, with the skipper hitting a quick-fire 15, including 3 boundary shots.

Another 19 runs were added by our third pair of Tom Bromirskyj and Emmy Raggett, including some confident running between the wickets which put Yarm under real pressure. Joe White and Gabe Everitt were then able to bang, crash and wallop the final nails into the Yarm coffin as they added 43 in the final 4 overs, including a 5-boundary 29 from White, leaving the score at 310 for 5.

The captain led by example and took an early wicket in the first over of the visitors' innings to get us up and running. With Emmy Raggett bowling a superb wicket maiden and a run out adding to the pressure, by the halfway stage Yarm were only 208 net. Some decent batting and a bit of good luck added a few runs to the cause in the latter half of the innings but 2 late wickets from Joe White ensured that they were never really going to get anywhere near our total.

Well done Rhinos - a great victory!

The SDR Joinery Player of the Match goes to Joe White for an commanding and unbeaten knock of 29 and two wickets for 10 runs.
