Richmondshire Under-15s match report vs Newton Aycliffe

After losing the toss Richmondshire were asked to bat with the outfield damp and overcast it looked like a good toss to win.

Richmondshire started fantastically with a 69 run opening stand off just 8 overs before Alex Percival was bowled for 32. In came Ben to join Jonny. You may have been mistaken to think the first partnership was quick but when Jonny retired on 50, he and Ben had put 75 on in just 8 overs, Ben soon joined Jonny on retiring on 50 and with a quick fire 10 from Henry Shepherd, Richmondshire finished on 176 for 4. Yes that's right 176 in just 20 overs.

Richmondshire then put in a professional display in the field chasing every ball down to stop and runs been given away cheaply. After the opening spell from Cameron and Alex Nimmo, Newton Aycliffe were 14-0 off 6 overs. Then came on we think it was Joe Carruthers but you could have been mistaken to think it was Rashid Khan, Shane Warne or Muralitharan the way Joe bowled, as I was umpiring that end it was a joy to watch the ball pitch on leg stump and go past the off stump ball after ball, Joe finished on 4-1-10-2. Newton Aycliffe could only manage 70-2 off 20 overs.
Richmondshiee win by 106 runs.

Andy Percival Glazing and Windows Man of the Match is Joe Carruthers.

Richmondshire's final 4 league games are all at home Sunday 30th June vs Stockton, Wednesday 10th July vs Darlington, Sunday 14th July vs Hartlepool, Sunday 21st July vs Blackhall.
