Richmondshire U13s vs Stockton match report

The night may have started with ominous grey clouds overhead, but the sun ended up shining on Richmondshire as they romped to victory over Stockton.

Stockton won the toss and elected to bowl, but their best laid plans were demolished when captain Jake Percival took three wickets in his first over.

There was never going to be a way back after that, and certainly not when Andrew Ralph took an amazing six wickets, including four in four balls (and a great stumping by Joe Sydall), before ending the Stockton innings with two in two balls. In between there was a run-out from Jake.

Stockton finished on 40 all out after 17 overs.

With a small run chase ahead, Manager Darren Sydall opted to change the batting order, giving some much appreciated time at the wicket for the lads who didn't bat the previous week.

So, Harvey Olney made his debut as an opener, batting alongside Finlay Clark. They put on 13 before Harvey was bowled and Fin was joined by James Coyle. James was unlucky not to score more runs, having hit the ball well before he and then Thomas Wooff were both out to a very good Stockton spin bowler.

William Shaefer came into bat at 5 and he and Fin saw the game out, Fin finishing on 22 not out (with several fours) and Will on 5 not out.

Richmondshire finished in 41 for 3 after 11.2 overs.

Bowling figures:

A Ralph 3-2-2-6
J Percival 2-0-7-3
A Nimmo 2-1-2-0
F Clark 2-0-5-0
W Shaefer 3-1-5-0
T Wooff 1-1-0-0
F Hendrix 1-1-0-0
J Coyle 1-0-9-0
H Olney 1-0-3-0
M Percival 1-0-3-0

Richmondshire won by 7 wickets. A great bowling and fielding performance by everyone, with lots of maidens and very little runs given up by each bowler.

The Swale Scaffolding Man of the Match goes to Andrew Ralph.
