Richmondshire win by 107 runs

On a cold and damp Sunday morning, our U11 team ensured that their enthusiasm was not affected by the weather and eased to their 4th consecutive win of the season.

Captain Joe White lost the toss and the team were asked to bowl first. The U11s are on a mission to minimise the extras given to the opposition and they continued their improvement in this area. Only 1 wide and 1 no ball were added onto the Wolviston total along with 6 byes.

Bowling also continues to impress. 2 wickets for 3 runs from Max Percival’s initial overs set the standard. Some concentrated wicket to wicket bowling from Eddy Player and Isaac Bottomley meant that the opposition’s innings never got going. Timbers crashed to the floor in a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ spell. Eddy returning 3 wickets for 7 and Isaac 2 for 3. But the best figures of the innings were saved for Raam Raj, who bowled very accurately for his 3 wickets and two wicket maidens (2-2-0-3).

With a target of 183 on the board, the team were relaxed yet focused coming to the crease. The opening pair of Max and Olly Ashton (playing in his first game of the season) provided us with an excellent start. 33 runs came off the bat by the end of the first pair’s innings.

By the end of the 16 overs, 5 players had scored more than 10 runs each, with only 4 wickets blotting the copybook.

The Wensleydale Heifer Player of the Match goes to Raam Raj for achieving the best bowling figures of the season so far along with a good batting performance.
