U13s Hambleton Lg drama

The U13s Hambleton Lg side certainly specialise in dramatic finishes and this was no exception.

Batting first at Richmond School, Richmond posted a decent score of 254 net, with net positive contributions from Cameron, Will N, Will A, Tom W, Owen and Zak. A good effort to only lose 6 wickets against at times very challenging bowling.

In the field, Richmond looked to be cruising to victory with wickets for Zak, Harvey and Will M, and a couple of good run-outs - sharp work from a combination of Will M and Alex, and later Harvey. But this was turned on its head by exceptional batting from one of Masham's last pair, who smashed a very quick 29 against some good bowling. Tom VN pegged them back with an excellent 2 wicket over, clean bowling both the last pair. Masham were left hanging on to survive a very challenging last over from Cameron, to win by 4 runs.

Well done to all, it's great to see the development in skills of the players who've represented this team. And great for them to be involved in such close finishes even if my ageing heart is struggling to take it!!

Thanks to John Pinkney for scoring and Louise Wooff for preparing the drinks
