U9s Home vs Masham

Richmondshire (296 for 4 - 276 net) beat Masham (296 for 8 - 256 net)

On a beautiful Wednesday evening, our Under 9s team played their third league game of the season, wanting to maintain their unbeaten start to the season against a competitive Masham side.

Richmondshire lost the toss and were put into bat.  Our second batting pair of Issac Bottomley and Raam Raj (9 and 10 runs respectively) moved the score on well as did our final pair of Max Percival and debutant Jack Platt (12 and 7 runs respectively).  The innings closed, after a generous number of extras, on a net score of 276.

Richmondshire took the field knowing that their fielding performance needed to be intelligent and lively in order to take the points.  Fortunately, it met the mark.  The boys communicated well, led by the captain of the night, Bottomley, who marshalled the troops like a chess grand master.  8 wickets were taken during the 16 overs, 1 run out through razor sharp fielding.  The other 7 spread across the bowling figures equally.  The most miserly of which came from Raam Raj (2 overs, 1 for 6); debutant Tom Bromirskyj (2 overs, 1 for 8) and Eddie Player (2 overs, 1 for 12).

A special mention should also go to Henry Wright who was the third debutant in the team.  He contributed well with both bat and ball.  Masham finished 20 runs short of our total on 256 net, despite an excellent final pair partnership of 30 runs from the last 4 overs.

Well done everyone – top of the league after 3 games!  Let’s keep it going into our next game at Northallerton next week.
