U9s Away v Bedale

Match Report: Bedale U9s v Richmondshire U9s - Wednesday 11th May

Richmondshire 340-4 (320 net) beat Bedale 272-6 (242 net) by 78 runs

On a lovely warm evening, our U9 team played their second game of the season against Bedale, wearing their brand new club shirts and looking like they meant business! (see photo). Having lost the toss, Richmondshire were asked to bat, with James Cox and Eddie Player moving the score swiftly onto 225 at the end of their 4 overs, helped by a few wides from the Bedale bowlers.  A solid middle order partnership by Raam Raj (11) and Issac Bottomley (11) continued to make good progress.

Although the score was moving nicely towards respectability it took a drastic turn for Bedale with the introduction of our last pair - Max Percival (23) and Joseph White (30) - who managed to score 61 off the last 4 overs, including 10 fours and a six; an excellent batting performance only marred by a diving catch in the deep and a single loose shot which gave Bedale two wickets that they desperately needed.

At the break Richmondshire had scored 140 runs off 16 overs, a net score of 320.

A spirited, alert and mature fielding performance followed, giving Bedale little opportunity to compete.  Only 7 runs were scored off the bat in 16 overs; the scorers only being troubled by a steady supply of wides and byes (we need to work on this!).

Issac Bottomley provided the best of the bowling with 3 wickets for 10 runs (almost a hat trick as well).  Maisie Forbes (2 overs, 1 for 4) and Lottie Humphris (2 overs, 1 for 5) ably providing support.

All in all, another excellent performance.  Well done team!
