U13 Match Report, away v Darlington

Richmondshire 70 for 3 (246 net) beat Darlington 74 for 10 (194 net) by 52 runs.

Darlington batted first, their first pair had a steady start, but the second pair managed to lose 5 wickets, 3 of them to Tom Ward's heavily flighted spin. Despite being donated 28 runs in the form of wides, Darlington did not manage to get their score back above 200. They hit 7 fours but only ran 14 runs, they attempted to run 3 more runs which ended in run-outs.

The low total meant there was no scoreboard pressure on the Richmondshire batters, just as well, because the Darlo bowling was quite tidy, they bowled only 3 wide balls and two spinners got sharp turn. Jonny Baines helped Darlo early on by calling Patrick for a run that wasn't there, but steady accumulation from then on did the job, despite the best efforts of Darlo's highly enthusiastic 7 year old substitute fielder.
