U15 arrangements and first match

Hi all. Just a note to update on U15 arrangements this season, and let you know of the first match. We're running two teams this year. Jim's blog of 2 Feb (attached below) gives more detail.

We've got a team in the NYACC league as usual, generally playing on Sunday mornings. Amabel Spink is the team manager.

As Jim mentions, because of the numbers and strength in this age group, we've also got a team in the Hambleton League, generally playing on Mon and Tue evenings. I'll be managing this team. This is a strong league providing competitive cricket against the likes of Bedale, Masham, Northallerton.

Generally we'll be prioritising the NYACC team, and the Hambleton League team will be used to maximise opportunities for all. But we're expecting a lot of movement of players between the teams, and in many weeks the Hambleton League will be a tougher game. And although we'll be trying to spread the bowling and batting around as much as possible in the Hambleton team, we're still aiming to win lots of games. Ideally we'll win both leagues!

The first U15 game of the season is Bedale away on Monday night (25th) in the Hambleton League. We'll be picking the strongest available team for this match, because there is no NYACC game. You'll be contacted by text if selected, and I'll post the team asap on the blog.

Thanks, Adrian Fletcher (07812 580732)

Jim's blog post:

For the past few years we have had a team in the NYACC (North Yorkshire Area Cricket Council) under 15 league and this will continue. Matches are 20 overs a side, there is an early season cup competition which starts in April followed by a league which finishes in early August. Most fixtures are on Sunday mornings.

This year, due to the strength of our year 10 players, to give opportunities to a wider group of players, will have also entered a team in the Hambleton and District League. The teams in this league are a mixture of extra teams from larger clubs like Richmondshire, teams from small town clubs like Bedale and Northallerton and teams from larger village clubs. Matches are 20 overs a side. Standard day for fixtures is Monday evenings, though this can change. The fixtures run from the start of the season until the beginning of the school holidays
