Extra training sessions for our girl and lady players

This programme is being run by Mark Jobling, well known in these parts, the initial focus is on fielding and fitness for cricket.

The text below is from an email sent out by Peter Watson, who is a great advocate of girls cricket. I have seen his daughter fielding at Gilling a few years ago, she is an exceptional fielder.

Dear all,

I trust that everyone is well.

I know that some of you will already be aware of the Sessay CC Emeralds' Fit fer Cricket course of six training sessions on fitness and fielding in combination which are being run at the Galtres Centre on Friday evenings.

The course has proved popular and as anticipated we've received some enquiries from some 'junior' players about whether there will be a similar opportunity for them?

YES, Mark Jobling (YCB Community Coach) and I are planning to run a short course of 'taster sessions', FfC Run TWO on Saturday afternoons 28th November & 5th December and Sunday 13th December which will be based on the Fit fer Cricket format.  We will be assisted by some of the SCC Emeralds players who are attending the Friday evening sessions.

The aim of the sessions is to encourage women and girls to explore cricket from an alternative angle; to encourage and enthuse by dismantling the barriers of inhibition and reluctance . . . the only way to fail, is to fail to try!

Assuming that the activities are well received, they will continue in the New Year and incorporate more batting and bowling activities, too.

The extended objective is that participation in these sessions will lead to team opportunities with the Forest of Galtres CDG and/or local club teams in spring & summer 2016

We would be pleased to receive expressions of interest - however tentative or enthusiastic, from women and girls, whatever their level of previous cricket experience . . . 'NONE' is absolutely ideal, too!  If we need to run more than one session per day to suit the range of participants, then we will do so.

You can ensure that you will be kept informed directly of the times and details of the FfC Run TWO sessions by replying to this email.  Please tell your friends and urge them to express their interest too.

We hope that we can look forward to hearing from you?

Yours faithfully,

Peter
