U15 League Match v Seaton Carew, Report

Two days after the cup final, the U15s were back on the same wicket for a home match against Seaton Carew. The weather was pleasant but hazy, not sunny enough for my cap though.

Our opponents arrived early and looked very organised as they warmed up on the outfield before any of our players had even turned up. However, once our innings started, it was soon clear that the first impression was misleading. On a dry wicket, their bowling posed little threat and their field placing was very poor. Sam and Matthew scored 42 and 43 respectively, as with all our subsequent dismissals, they were caught off mishits rather than got out by the bowlers. Spence scored an excellent 54 retired, with two lovely straight sixes. James, Harvey and Cameron all scored double figures as we finished on 197 for 5. The league standard scoresheets only go up to 175 !!

We opened the bowling with the two Jonnys, who were unable to dislodge the openers, one of whom displayed the batting approach of Boycott and at the crease habits of Trott, which was clearly not going to win a 20 over match.  First change bowler Harvey then took three wickets, before we rotated bowlers a bit, with Jack, Tyler and James all picking up wickets before Seaton Carew eventually finished on 96 for 7, giving a victory margin of 101 runs.
