U15 friendly v Raby Castle, match report

Raby batted first and made a decent score of 136 for 5 off the agreed 25 overs. Every Richmondshire player bowled at least 2 overs, Mark Walker had the best figures of 2 for 19, bowling with speed and control down the hill. The Raby opener L Watson contributed 52 retired.

Our reply went well off the first few overs with Jack and Cameron opening, Cameron clubbing a full toss for a big six. We then started losing wickets every couple of overs, after 15 overs we were looking in a bit of trouble at seventy-odd for five when late replacement U11 Jonny Baines joined Mark Walker at the crease. Seven overs later the match was finished without any more wickets lost, as Mark and Jonny batted superbly and with correct technique, hitting the bad balls for four and taking quick singles when available. Mark hit the winning boundary to finish on 53 not out and Jonny enjoyed himself scoring 24 not out.

We hope to have a return fixture on another Sunday afternoon.
