Under 11 match report 28/04/15

Richmond travelled across to Teesside on a chilly evening to take on a very young Billingham side in their second Gemara Cup group game of the season. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Henry and Jonny got Richmond off to a flier posting 32 runs without loss in their 4 overs together. The following pairs all kept the momentum going and together with a large number of extras Richmond eventually finished with an impressive total of 326-3 wkts (311 net) after 20 overs. In reply Billingham's opening pair put up a valiant attempt scoring 18 in their allotted overs but thereafter a steady bowling and fielding performance (highlight of which was undoubtedly Edmund Richardson's casual swoop and direct hit for a run out from midwicket!) left Billingham a long way short on 269-9 wkts (224 net). A comfortable win therefore for Richmond by 72 runs. Probably one of the coldest nights I've ever experienced for cricket so well done to the boys for sticking at it and also showing good sportsmanship towards a very inexperienced opposition. Next game is away at sunny Sedgefield on Wednesday night... TP
