U15 Match Report v Darlington
Richmondshire 175 for 2, Matthew Price 52*, Tom Spensley 50*, Jonny Carlton 25*
Darlington 55 for 6, Jonny Carlton 2-2.
The two wickets we lost were in the first two overs of the match, after that Matthew and Spence did an excellent rebuilding job, giving Jonny licence to come out and swing at the end. Jonny actually batted very correctly, hopefully reminding himself that he is a good batter. Though Darlington fielded an adult 2nd XI bowler and an adult 3rd XI bowler, their team lacked depth and a competent wicketkeeper, which showed in the total of 30 extras and other runs given away in the field.
Matthew and Jonny opened the bowling, bowling 3 overs each, after which Darlington had lost 4 wickets, one to a sharp runout from Ted. We the rotated our bowlers, all ten fielders having a bowl, the returning Ryan Campbell putting in a very tidy pair of overs. Darlington's young No. 6 M Harwood did well, scoring 18 not out, he had previously bowled four good overs. Our fielding and "nous" in the field was generally very good. It was pleasing to get such a big win with so many strong players not in the team this week.
