U13 League Campaign Underway With A Win

Richmond U13 travelled to Seaton Carew on a breezy evening to start their league campaign.  After years of playing pairs it was time for them to play normal cricket.  After winning the toss Tom had no hesitation in batting first.

Richmond batted well against a very disciplined Seaton Carew attack who only bowled two wides in the 20 overs (Richmond bowlers take note!).  Tom Dowson and Jordan Forbes got them off to a good start, with Tom retiring on 30 in the 6th over and Jordan being very unlucky to be stumped when the ball rebounded off the wicket keepers pads onto the stumps.  After that 14 was a popular score with Amy Jobling, Daniel Baines and Henry Noke all achieving that mark. Three run outs in the last over slowed things down but Richmond managed to post 100 for the loss of 5 wickets.

Seaton Carews early batsman started well and they were always well in touch with the required run rate.  However Richmond plugged away and tight bowling from Griffin, 3 overs for 7 runs, in the middle overs slowed down the Seaton reply.  The tables turned further in Richmond's favour when Henry Noke took two wickets in an over and in the end Seaton Carew finished on 94 runs, 6 runs short of their target.  A good performance from Uchenna behind the stumps with 2 catches and only 2 byes. Disappointing still to give Seaton 24 runs in wides, something we are going to have to eliminate.  Without these it would have been a much more confortable win.

Good to get off to a winning start in the league.
