U13 Continue Impressive Cup Form

Richmond U13's have continued their impressive start to the 2015 season with some further strong performances in the Lowery Cup.  With five of the six qualifying games played they have maintained their 100% record with some great bowling, batting and fielding.  A summary of the 3 most recent games is below.

V Darlington RA

Darlington RA batted first and for most of the innings it was slow progress against some tight bowling.  When the last RA pair went in their score was 230-7, meaning a net score of -26.  However Adam I'Anson set about the Richmond bowlers scoring 38 undefeated runs including four sixes.  His one man show meant Darlington RA finished on a net score of 219.

When Richmond batted they lost 4 early wickets to be behind the rate after 8 overs.  But good batting from there resulted in a comfortable win by 63 runs.  Special mention for good debuts by Alex Speakman and Angus Potter.

Darlington RA 275 runs for 7 wickets, net score 219 (D Baines 2-5, A Speakman 2-4)

Richmond 330 runs for 6 wickets, net score 282 (T Dowson 26, S Potter 12)

V Darlington

Darlington normally present a strong challenge, with some great games between the two over the last few years.  However Darlington arrived with an under strength team and the contest turned out to be one sided.

Darlington batted first and managed 70 runs in their 20 overs, helped by 28 in wides with the Richmond bowlers not quite having their radars set to bowl straight.  The loss of 7 wickets meant Richmond would be chasing a net 215 to win.

This small total proved totally below par and Richmond racked up 329 runs.  Even allowing for Louis Peacock and Tom Dowson's erratic running Richmond cruised home by 67 runs.

Darlington 270 runs for 7 wickets, net score 214 (J Kelly 3-5)

Richmond 329 runs for 6 wickets, net score 281 (T Dowson 25, J Kelly 16, H Noke 13)

V Barnard Castle

The closest game to date for Richmond against a very promising, young B Castle team.  Richmonds experience told in the end with a great fielding display that gained 3 good run outs.

Need to work on losing a few last wickets as we move into the league fixtures.

Richmond 323 runs for 7 wickets, net score 267 (J Forbes 27 (out once), T Dowson 16 (out once))

Barnard Castle 272 runs for 7 wickets, net score 216 (J Kelly 4-6)
