Raby Castle vs Richmond U13 D+D League match report 24 Jun

The Richmond U13 D+D team is starting to specialise in thrilling finishes, with this one literally a dash to the line. Richmond won the toss, with skipper Amy Jobling choosing to field. U11's Alex Speakman and Harry Mawer performed really well with 2-13 and 1-10 respectively off their three overs apiece. Otherwise, a little bit of erratic bowling and a few too many extras helped Raby on their way until a couple of late wickets from Amy helped restrict Raby to 93-6, a decent net score of 263. Richmond were set on their way with another good stand of 21-0 from Meg and Amy, featuring some great running and good shots. Griff and Harry and James and Alex kept things moving, with James top scoring individually with the bat. Last pair Tom and Eddie needed 23 net to win off 4 overs. Despite losing two wickets, they tenaciously kept Richmond in the hunt until 2 were needed off the final ball to tie. Eddie turned the ball round the corner for what looked like a single, but an overthrow led to a sprint-off between Tom and the Raby fielder for the non strikers end for a tie. A throw from a couple of yards hit the stumps and Tom was just run out. Richmond lost by inches and we all went home for a lie down. Another great game, and a particular well done to the U11's Alex and Harry, who did really well.
