Under 11s update for parents - May 17th

With most of last year's all-conquering Under 11s team now moved on to Under 12 level, this season is providing an excellent opportunity to look at the next batch of Year 5 & 6 players. A combination of Bank Holidays, weather and opposition wishes mean that so far our first 4 fixtures have fallen on a Friday which isn't ideal as it takes away practice opportunities and a chance to all train together. The first 4 games have gone well with 12 different players used to date and others waiting patiently in the wings. The aim is to try and keep a competitive team whilst also using a reasonably flexible squad so even if you've not been picked yet do please keep coming along to training! Results so far have been good and the players are improving each game. Barnard Castle were beaten by 17 runs with 230-2 scored by Richmond against Barnard Castle's 213-5 wkts. Game 2 saw a tight last over finish where we narrowly failed to chase down Billingham's 225-4 finishing on 211-4 and losing by 14 runs. The third game was a good win by 32 runs over Sedgefield 210-4 against Richmond's 242-0 wkts - an excellent effort from each batting pair. Finally last night's match saw a comfortable win over Newton Aycliffe with Richmond posting an impressive 280-2 in reply to Aycliffe's 154-9 wkts. Hopefully we can now get back to training regularly together as a squad on Friday evenings. Overall though a really promising start to the season with lots of new players relishing the challenge of hard ball cricket!
