Fun in the sun at Aldbrough

Richmond U13’s had a great evening out in the sun at the lovely setting of Aldbrough St John CC in the D&D league today. We travelled with 12 players, loaning four of our U12’s to Aldbrough to ensure we got a game in. Richmond fielded first, and were ably skippered by Nathan, who ensured everyone got a decent bowl. U11’s Harry and Jim settled really well into their first competitive cricket and both bowled well, Jim only conceding 4 runs in 3 overs. Max, Ben and Kyle all bowled well too, with Ben picking up a couple of wickets. But the standout bowlers were Nathan with 4-14 and Megan, who showed the virtue of bowling straight with 3-4, including a triple wicket maiden, all bowled! Tom volunteered to take the gloves and put in a tidy performance. For Aldbrough, Richmond loanees Sam and Griff hit some good shots at the top of the order, and following the loss of a few wickets in the middle, James and George ensured a respectable score of 225 with a good last partnership. When Richmond batted, the innings was built around a great partnership of 38 for the loss of only one wicket between Nathan and Kyle, with the rest of the order chipping in usefully to win the match with a net score of 247 despite the loss of a few wickets. Of the Richmond contingent in the Aldbrough team, Sam put in a great stint as keeper, picking up two good catches. James and George bowled well without luck despite limited opportunity, and Griff finished with excellent figures of 3-9 from his four overs. Well done everyone, particularly those playing their first competitive cricket, who all contributed really well.
