U13 Cup Semi Final Match Report

Richmondshire 123 for 5 beat Norton 101 all out.

The total of 123 batting first may not have seemed that good, but it put enough "scoreboard pressure" on Norton to give us the win.

Looking at the scorecard, the main difference was that we had two batters, Sam (30*) and Matty (22), who got going and made a good contribution, whereas in the Norton innings, wickets kept falling.

The Norton opening bowlers were very good, Sam and George didn't manage too score many runs early on but managed to see them off, runs were then picked up off the remaining bowlers who weren't quite as threatening.

When we came to bowl, all our medium pacers proved difficult to score off at the required 6 runs an over without taking risks. H, Sam, Ryan and James Metcalfe all took good catches as the Norton batters were forced to take the aerial route.

Our opponents in the final will be either Darlington, who we know are difficult to beat, or Stockton, who will be better if they beat Darlington. We will need to make sure we tighten up in the field, fielders in single stopping positions need to react and move quick enough, those in boundary saving positions must make sure they do everything they can to stop the ball going over the rope.
