RICHMOND U11 ABF FESTIVAL

Richmond CC played host to their annual U11 Festival on Sunday 23rd June.

Eight teams took part - Darlington, Barnard Castle, Barton, Helperby and 4 Richmond teams.  Split into 2 groups of 4 the group games were keenly contested and some good cricket played all round.  A potential shock was avoided in the final group game when Richmond D almost upset the form book against Richmond B, however the B team finally came through.

The format was slightly altered due to the poor weather forecast however the expected rain didnt come until after the festival had finished.

Following the group stages a 3rd and 4th play off match was played with Helperby beating Barnard Castle in a low scoring but keenly contested game.  In the final the old adversaries Richmond A and Darlington met and as has been the case in all their meetings recently it went down to the last ball with James Kelly and Ralph Makepeace holding their nerve and seeing Richmond A through by 9 runs.

It was the third year running the Richmond U11s had won the festival and was testament to some great cricket by all the players.
