First defeat for NYACC U13s

A disappointing result as we lost by 11 runs to the side we had beaten in the cup.

Norton batted first on a bouncy Gilling wicket, scoring 107 for 6, 259 net, not a big score with the boundaries easy to reach. James Metcalfe was the most effective of our bowlers, finishing with 2 for 7.

When we batted, Ted and Sam survived undefeated against the opening bowlers, but pairs two, three and four all struggled to make headway against the target as wickets fell and we scored slowly, leaving a lot to do when Toby came to the wicket with Jacob. The Richmondshire team then woke up about 2 hours after they should have done at the prospect of another display of hitting as per Toby's rescue mission at Darlington. The ball disappeared over the rope twice as Toby scored 39, but it wasn't enough as Toby was caught behind and Jacob bowled twice as we finished on 112 for 8, 248 net.

There was a lot of lethargy in the team today, both in the field and when batting; the team wants to keep winning but won't if it doesn't work hard.
