Barnard Castle U11 v Richmond U11 - Match Report

The under 11s finally played their last cup game away at Barnard Castle on Tuesday evening.

Barnard Castle won the toss and put Richmond into bat first.  Each pair equipped themselves well against some good Barnard Castle bowling.  After 3 pairs had batted 56 runs had been added with no wickets down.  Tom Dowson top scored with a well played 17 runs.  The final pair of James Kelly and Uchenna Anyadiegwu then provided lots of entertainment as the last pair.  Some fine shots were mixed up with some interesting running between the wickets and a couple of dismissals, one for each batsman.  This meant a final score of 282 runs for the loss of 2 wickets giving a net score of 266 runs.

When Barnard Castle batted Richmond generally bowled tightly with Sam Potter and Henry Noke, on his debut, being particularly miserly.  Wickets fell at regular intervals and Barnard Castle ended up with a total of 256 runs for the loss of 4 wickets, giving a net score of 224 runs and a convincing 42 run winning margin for Richmond.

Another good performance meaning that the under 11s won all of their 5 cup games to finish top of their group and giving a semi final against Wolviston on a date to be arranged.
