U13 D&D fixture v Aldbrough, Match Report

Aldbrough 71 for 10 (221 net), Richmondshire 58 for 6 (228 net), Richmondshire won by 7 runs.

A close victory which was secured with a fine partnership in the last pairing from Aldbrough residents Nathan Simpson and Jack Smith.

Aldbrough batted first, with the exception of a six from their opener, their batting was steady and after the first three pairs they were on 40 for 5. There then followed a more kamikaze approach from their last pair, with a flurry of dismissals and boundaries. Maurice Boschke excelled in the field with two run outs, whilst Jack Smith took 3 for 11.

A sensible partnership from openers Ted and Maurice left us 11 for 0 after the first pairing. Lewis Endersby and Luke Bell then took a rather less steady approach, despite not looking troubled by the bowling, they were somehow dismissed a total of five times. The Walker twins narrowed the deficit whilst confusing the scorers by batting together, meaning that when Jack and Nathan came in, we were 14 runs behind. Batting and running well, they calmly took us ahead of the Aldbrough score with an over to spare and kept us there.

Thanks to first team player Craig Swainston for umpiring and to Matthew Bell for filling in whilst Lewis returned from a quick trip to Aldborough, 33 miles to the south.
