Training Friday 17th May

We have been fortunate that the 3rd XI cup match has been moved to Thursday, therefore the full outfield should be available. The new net pitches won't yet be ready, but the guys doing them have clearly been putting plenty of hours in.

We do have a need to balance the numbers more evenly between groups on a Friday evening. The group containing the “match squad” is always the most popular, but at the size it is, with 30 plus players, it is too big for all the players to receive the attention they need. With only 8 players a side in a match, the majority of those currently in this group will not be playing regularly in matches. Over the next two weeks, Richard and Kevin will decide who should remain in their group and who should move to other groups, there may also be one or two who should move into their group. The group containing the match squad should contain the players who in the eyes of the coaches, not the players themselves or their parents, will be playing hard ball competitive cricket for the club this season. Behaviour and ability to concentrate are factors as well as cricketing skills and ability.

We would like to arrange some additional friendly matches against teams from local clubs for those who are not getting a game in the league team, using our newly qualified level 1 coaches to help run the matches. We will, however, require some parental assistance to help organise these matches, so if you are a parent of a child that would benefit, please put yourself forward.

For those not yet ready to play hard ball cricket, we intend to organise a mini tournament (a.k.a. the Summer Premier League) using soft balls, which we will play on Friday nights before the school summer holidays, this is one of the reasons we need to move people into the correct groups. This will be open to all those paid up members who have not played in the NYACC hardball team.
