Richmond U11 - League Champions

After an eventful week Richmond U11s were tonight confirmed as NYACC north league winners.  This follows quickly on the heels of a narrow 2 run defeat in the Cup Final against Darlington last Wednesday.

The U11s were due to finish their league campaign at home to Blackhall tonight but at the last minute Blackhall conceded the game as they could not field a team.  This was a bit of an anti-climax for the boys who were up for winning the game to clinch the league title.  However it should not take any gloss off the achievement of winning the league which is a fantastic effort in Richmond's first year in the NYACC league.  Throughout the league season the team only lost once, one game was cancelled and the rest were wins.

Eighteen players were used during the league campaign and all contributed to some great performances and results.  Everyone of them could be justifiably proud of their efforts not only in how they played on the pitch but also in their behaviour and attitude which has been first rate all year and was a credit to the Club.  A big well done to all, including the parents who do all the running around.

The season is not quite finished with the Festival on Sunday and a play off with Saltburn the NYACC south champions to fit in at some point.  However the boys can look forward to a good presentation night on Friday 21st September with the league trophy to be presented and the champagne to be sprayed.  Great effort everyone.
