Richmond U11 v Hartlepool U11

Richmond entertained Hartlepool at Gilling on Tuesday evening in their latest league match in a game which started late when the opponents went to the main ground first.

Richmond's captain for the night Jonathan Carlton won the toss and decided to bowl first.  Richmond's bowling was again very impressive with runs kept to a minmum even allowing for the good pitch and fast outfield.  They also fielded well with the highlight being a run out caused by Sam Winters athletic fielding and good throw to wicketkeeper Tom Dowson who did the rest.  Sam also followed this up with two wickets and with no bowler going for more than four runs an over Hartlepool were restricted to a net score of 223 runs.

Matthew and Toby got Richmond off to a confident start against Hartlepools opening bowlers, and with further good contributions from Jonathan Carlton (11) and Jordan Forbes (9) the scoreboard was kept ticking along.  This meant when the last pair, Sam Winter and George Spink, went in Richmond were already well ahead of Hartlepool's score.  This allowed the pair, and especially Sam, to play in a very attacking manner and he ended up with an individual score of 27 runs with six boundaries.  Although a wicket was lost to the last ball of the game Richmond had hit 292 runs for 3 wickets and a net score of 268 runs and a victory by 45 runs.

This kept the really good winning run going for the team, however with the next two games against their main rivals in the league, Norton and Stockton, they will have to maintain these high standards.
