U12 Match Report v Maltby

Gilling residents enjoyed a quieter than usual Tuesday night as the U12s took on Maltby minus some of their regulars, who were away on a school trip terrorising the inhabitants of Northern France.

Maltby won the toss and put Richmondshire in, a wise decision if you haven't batted at Gilling before. Despite a fast outfield and some mediocre bowling, Richmondshire managed only 36 runs off the bat in their score of 75 for 7. James Metcalfe, currently leading run scorer, scored 14 not out, but  the (lack of) running between the wickets was very poor.

Maltby were behind the Richmondshire score until the last pair came to the wicket, S Irvine, however, scored 19 not out to take them ahead, and we didn't manage to take the wicket in the last pairing that was needed to change the result. James Irving, Joey Remillard and Harvey Websdale all had very tidy bowling figures, Harvey also stood out with a run out and some keen fielding which others should aspire to !!

There's no U12 match next week unless I can fit in a re-arranged fixture, the next scheduled fixture is at Stockton, w/c 2nd July, almost certainly not on Tuesday.
