Match Report D&D U13 v Darlington
A very respectable performance as we lost by 13 runs to a strong Darlington team.
Darlington batted first, and got off to a strong start, their opener O Smith's innings of 21 not out including a six into the garden of one of the neighboroughing houses, losing the brand new match ball. (Maybe I should have got him back by giving him out lbw !!) However, all the Richmondshire bowlers bowled with good control, so that at the end of the innings, the score had reached 70 for the loss of 2 wickets, which were taken by Sam Archer and Charlie Bond.
The Darlington attack included some capable bowlers I remember from their NYACC team, so with the damp wicket, run scoring was not going to be easy. The Richmondshire response of 57 for 2 wickets included 7 shots for boundaries, with Lewis Cocks and Sam Archer both getting double figures.
Special mentions to Rosie Brannigan and Andrew Gordon for bowling some demon inswingers which deserved wickets, Georgie Walker for her captaincy and Kevin Bond for his neatly completed scoresheets.
Next match in this competition should be next Thursday, home against Rockliffe.
