ABF U11 Cricket Festival: Sunday 24 June

Richmondshire Cricket Club is hosting this year's ABF U11 Cricket Festival this coming Sunday, 24 June.

Eight teams from Richmond, Barnard Castle, Darlington and Helperby - including a girls team from Richmond - will be competing for the festival shield, last year won for the first time by Richmond.

Matches start at 10am, initially in league format followed by two semi-finals and a final, which will be played around 6pm.

The festival is a great family occasion, with lots to do on and off the field of play.

On the field of play over sixty youngsters will be entertaining the crowd with their cricketing skills and enthusiasm, and off the field of play we will be running a tombola (please bring a tombola prize!), coconut shy and single stump challenge.

Top-notch cheeseburgers and hamburgers will be available from noon, or for those who would prefer a traditional Sunday lunch you can book into the Club carvery by calling 01748 824573.

Festival programmes will be available at a cost of £2, complete with the festival draw and scoresheets so that you can keep track of the games.

All monies raised on the day will be donated to ABF The Soldiers Charity, a cause that is very close to our hearts here in Richmond.

At around 5:30pm the Club will be delighted to welcome ex-soldier Wayne Foster and fellow walker David Adams as they near the end of their Sunderland to Catterick walk which sets off from Sunderland on 23 June and arrives in Catterick at about 7pm, see http://www.walksforourheroes.org.uk/ for details or follow them on Twitter @walks4ourheroes. Donations can be made at http://www.justgiving.com/walksforheroes-abf.

We're hoping that several players will be able to join Wayne and David at Friary Gardens and walk with them around the perimeter of the field to the clubhouse, which will be great fun for the kids and a wonderful photo opportunity as they make their way round the boundary.

So please do come along and support Richmondshire CC in raising money for ABF The Soldiers' Charity, and I look forward to seeing you at some stage during the day.

Yours in the Spirit of Cricket.

Andy Barlow
Club Chairman
